Ski Mountaineering

The Ski Mountaineering Course is a one-day intermediate-level program for experienced backcountry skiers and riders who seek to gain the skills to explore bigger and steeper terrain in the mountains. This is a field-based course designed to provide hands-on experience with technical systems, however, we will also cover topics such as risk management and decision-making in the mountains.

Previous backcountry skiing or riding experience is required. Previous mountaineering experience is not required.

3. Snow anchor building and evaluation
4. Pitched snow climbing
5. Belaying and rappelling
6. Transitions in steep terrain
